Brimfield Police Arrest Man For Sexting A 12 Year Old 05-06-2009
Brimfield, OH - Brimfield Police arrested Brenton L. Justice, 21 of Green Monday night for allegedly attempting to solicit sex, on several occasions, from a juvenile female he thought was only 12 years-old.
Brimfield Police Chief David Blough told E-Portage that Justice had sent sexually explicit test messages to a 12-year-old Brimfield resident. After the victim’s mother reported the inappropriate texts, the police department took over the pre-teen’s cell phone and continued the texting to the subject.
“Once we took custody of the phone, we continued the conversation”, Chief Blough told E-Portage, adding “we were really generic with our texts… He was pretty clear describing his anatomy and what his intentions were.”
After obtaining a warrant from Judge Barbara Oswick of the Portage County Municipal Court, Brimfield traveled to Justice’s home in green, where they arrested him on the charge of “Opportuning”, a fourth-degree felony.
Although Justice lives in Green, and never actually stepped foot in Township, Brimfield retained jurisdiction because under Ohio Law, the victim who received the text messages was in Brimfield, according to Chief Blough.
According to Victor Vigluicci, the Portage County Prosecutor, If convicted, he could face up to months in prison, a $5000.00 fine and be branded a sexual offender for the rest of his life.
Justice is currently being held in the Portage County Jail in Lieu of a $60,000 bail. He was also ordered to have no contact with any minors other then his own children.
A pre-trial is scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2009 in front of John Plough of the Kent Branch of the Portage County Municipal Court.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
