Beleaguered BP Changes CEO, Sees Record Loss

BP has announced that CEO Tony Hayward will be replaced in October by Robert Dudley. The company also announced a record quarterly loss as it set aside $32 billion to cover the costs of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

'Saved By The Belt' Award to be Given Out Tomorrow

Ravenna, OH - Lindsay M. Greenawalt will be presented with Ohio’s “Saved By The Belt” award. Lindsay Greenawalt avoided serious injury by wearing her safety belt during a crash that occurred on Interstate 76 in Portage County on June 11, 2010.

The award presentation will take place at 6:00 pm at the A&W Restaurant in Ravenna on Friday July 28, 2010. In the event of inclement weather it will take place at the Ravenna Highway Patrol Pos. The post is located at 6259 State Route 59 in Ravenna.

Hollywood Coming to NE Ohio This Weekend, You Can Be Involved

Akron, OH - Want to be a Hollywood star? Well you can come close this weekend in Akron. At this year’s Soapbox Derby in Akron, Actor/Director, Corbin Bernsen will have his production company, Team Cheokee Productions filming footage for his new movie movie, 25 Hill.

Bernsen is asking NE Ohio residents to come and be extras in the film. The opportunity promises to be a fun and unique experience as extras will play both racers and fans. There will also be prizes, entertainment, food and lots of Hollywood glamour.

Ohio Highway Patrol Concerned About Increase in Fatal Crashes

Entire State, OH – According to the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) crash statistics, current and preliminary totals revealed that this year, 566 lives have been lost on Ohio roadways in comparison to 499 in 2009 during the time frame showing a 12 percent increase in rural and urban fatal crashes.

The Patrol created their strategic goal known as the 24/7 Initiative in 2007 as a new way to measure success in traffic safety. The initiative’s goal is a 10 percent traffic fatality reduction in Ohio by 2011.

Gulf Storm Bonnie Puts BP Spill Efforts on Hold
07-23-2010

(Reuters) - Tropical Storm Bonnie threatened efforts on Friday to plug BP's Gulf of Mexico oil leak for good, with vessels and rigs involved in the operation set to move out of the system's path.

"While these actions might delay the effort to kill the well for several days, the safety of the individuals at the well site is our highest concern," the top U.S. oil spill official, retired Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, said late on Thursday.

NEOUCOM Receives Accreditation for New Academic Programs

Rootstown, OH - The Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy (NEOUCOM) was granted an extension of its accreditation of the Higher Learning Commission (a Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools) to include the Master of Public Health degree, a Master of Science degree in integrated pharmaceutical medicine and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in integrated pharmaceutical medicine. The trustees validated this action on June 25, 2010.

The Higher Learning Commission conducted a site visit to NEOUCOM in December 2009, and the information regarding the accreditation approval has been posted on its website: http://www.ncahlc.org/decision-making-bodies/recent-actions.html.
