English Sports Pub Meets Family
Dining In Brimfield

BEEF O'BRADYS -
Brimfield, OH
Rating:
*** (Three stars out of 5)
Tucked away in the far
northwest corner of the Brimfield Wal-Mart
Plaza, you will find Beef O’Bradys, a
restaurant that blurs the line between an
English pub, sports bar and a family dining
experience.
I have dined at Beef O’Bradys several times,
and each time found the eatery to be full of
families and what seemed to be empty nesters
alike. With a view of 24 high def television
tuned to the latest sporting event no matter
where you sit (you wont even miss a play
while visiting the restrooms) , a full bar,
game room for the kids, and a conference
room for the business lunch meeting. There
is ample entertainment for just about anyone
while you await your meal.
At first glance you will find a menu that
reads like a typical chain sandwich shop,
filled with burgers, steak sandwiches, soups
(by Campbell’s, according to the menu) and a
few specialty sandwiches. What you don’t
know, a secret they keep is that they have
two classically trained chefs on staff, that
also act as the restaurant’s managers to
enhance the franchise style menu. Chef Beth
Danesi was trained at the Johnson & Wales
Culinary School, and Chef Joe Dawson at the
Pittsburgh Culinary Institute.
I started my meal with a bowl of Tomato
Soup, which I truly expected to be quite
average, without any real stimulation to my
pallet that I could not make at home with a
can of concentrate and a can of water
combined over heat. To my surprise, the soup
was a delicious medley of fresh ingredients,
prepared by Chef Danesi.

After tasting the soup, and
seeing how much I enjoyed the chef’s unique
style, I decided to order the Cuban
sandwich, even though the ingredients did
not come close to matching the original
style I have grown to become accustom to. On
Beef O’Bradys Cuban, they boast Ham, salami
and Swiss cheese served on Cuban bread with
lettuce, tomato, pickle, mustard and
mayonnaise.
Spending a great majority of my career in
Miami, where they were invented, I have
grown to love Cuban Sandwiches. If you have
never had one, a Cuban sandwich is a
combination of pork, Swiss cheese, ham,
pickles and mustard, pressed and grilled on
both sides on a flat hoagie style roll.
It is rare that most people can enjoy a food
that is prepared in a different manner than
the way they grown up with and have been
accustom to. People’s taste buds tend to
prefer the flavor of recipes that they have
ingrained in their memories.
However, after savoring the flavors in the
Cuban that I had at Beef O’Bradys, I can
honestly say that it will be hard to ever go
back to the original and not think of the
one I had in Brimfield, Ohio. I enjoyed it
so much; I almost ordered another, even
though I was already stuffed from the first.
After the meal, Chef Danesi was nice enough
to give me a tour of the kitchen. For a
Saturday and in the middle of dinner
service, it was much cleaner and organized
then I would have imagined it to be. The
cooks seemed to be very well organized in
their meal preparation.
If you are in Brimfield, and would like to
have a sandwich that feels more like a full
dining experience, I would definitely
recommend Beef O’Bradys. You can view their
